Dorian Yates
(born April 19, 1962 in Sutton Coldfield, England), is one of the most successful professional British bodybuilder to date and has won the Mr. Olympia title six times (1992-1997). Yates became known for his massive back muscles and is considered by some in bodybuilding to set the standard for back development in future Mr. Olympia contestants.
As a teenager Yates lived by himself in Birmingham. He was involved with karate and was introduced into lifting weights for his karate training.
This experience helped his self-confidence and gave him a newfound sense of direction in bodybuilding.
In 1993 Yates published an autobiography titled Blood and Guts. In 1996 Yates released a workout video of the same title; featuring his typical week's weight training. In 1998 he co-authored A Warrior's Story in which he writes how he became the top professional bodybuilder.
Yates purchased a gym in 1987 called Temple Gym in Birmingham and more recently formed his own bodybuilding supplement company
